Before moving to Greenacre House, there were serious concerns about this young person’s safety, particularly around absconding and risk taking. Since her placement, staff have engaged her well, supported her through a short term DoLs order, and helped her better understand professional concerns. With proactive management, support for family contact and safe future planning, she is now engaging well, enjoying activities, building trusting relationships and making clear progress.

During my visits to Kingfisher House, I have always noticed its warm, welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community. Staff create a supportive environment where residents feel valued, cared for and encouraged to engage. Teaching there has been rewarding, with the resident showing enthusiasm for learning, which reflects the nurturing, professional and high quality care provided by the team.

The staff were always available, approachable and committed to giving the children the best possible experience in care. The manager worked tirelessly to achieve positive outcomes, creating realistic care plans based on each child’s needs, wishes and feelings while managing safeguarding risks. He remained child focused, honest and professional, with open communication at all times.

Kingfisher House has provided J with a safe, stable and nurturing home where he feels respected, heard and valued. Staff, especially Sarah and Claire, have built strong, trusting relationships with him through genuine care, patience and consistency. Their trauma informed approach, strong communication with professionals, and high standards of care have supported J’s emotional growth, independence and progress.

The staff have the needs of the children at the heart of everything they do. There communication with school is excellent and nothing is ever too much trouble. If all children’s homes were run by staff like Ben, children in care would have a much more positive experience. His balance of calm, support and discipline should be held up as an example of good practice

Ben was available to speak to at any time and always kept the lines of communication open, he remains child focused in all aspects of his care he has a genuine want to ensure all the children in his care achieve the best possible outcomes that they can. Ben is open and honest in his communications and is able to express his thoughts in a professional manner.

The manager Ben works tirelessly to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people. Ben was realistic and worked with the children to support care plans that are realistic to their needs and wants, listening to their wishes and feelings to implement these into care plans while still mitigating any safeguarding risks and concerns.

Care and compassion shown by staff both towards young people is amazing. Communication is exceptional and who ever you speak to in a professional capacity - voice of young person is always fore. Thank you

The staff were always present and readily available to discuss anything with. They have a genuine wish to care for the looked after children and strive to make the children's experiences as looked after children the best possible.
